Aldea Zama is the built-out side of Tulum: paved sidewalks, restaurants and parks within walking distance, and the beach road a few minutes away by car.

How Tulum is laid out

  1. Aldea Zama

    Where you stay. Paved, tree lined streets, parks and shops within walking distance. Matcha Mama is in this same area.

  2. Downtown

    Along Avenida Tulum, a few minutes by car. That is where you will find Burrito Amor, Taquería Honorio and Palma Central, a yard with several food stalls.

  3. The beach road

    Boca Paila runs along the sea. On it are the public beaches of Paraíso, Pescadores, Las Palmas and Santa Fe, the beach clubs, and restaurants such as Hartwood and Raw Love.

  4. The ruins

    North of that road, next to Parque del Jaguar: a walled Maya city on the cliff, facing the Caribbean.
